Rafael Nadal stays in the top spot, despite only having played one tournament on the hard courts, and it remains to be seen whether the guiding influence of Ivan Lendl to Alexander Zverev’s team will help him over the hump of never making it past the second round!

Novak Djokovic’s achievement of winning all nine Masters titles with his Cincinnati win makes him one of the favourites to win a third US Open title.

Women’s Singles

Simona Halep‘s run to the Cincinnati final means she holds on to the top spot through the US Open.

Serena Williams receives a bump in the seedings for the second Slam in a row, with the US Open taking Wimbledon’s lead and reflecting her record at the event.

Chris Widmaier, Managing Director of Corporate Communications, said: “After balancing a variety of factors, including her return to competition following the birth of her daughter, her recent hard-court performance this summer and recognition of her achievements at the US Open, the USTA has moved Serena Williams’ seeding nine spots, from 26 to 17.

“We feel this is the appropriate decision, one that recognizes Serena and is fair to the remaining seeded players.”

Follwoing her success in Cincinnati, Kiki Bertens rises up the rankings for a better seeding, in the Top 16 and Cincinnati semi-finalist Aryna Sabalenka will now be seeded at a Slam for the first time in her career.

The draw for the US Open Men’s and Women’s Singles will take place at on Thursday Aug 23 at 2pm (7pm BST).
