The Top Seeds
[1] Caroline Wozniacki
The Dane is enjoying a decent run of form this year, buoyed by two finals and a title already this year, and despite always joking that she and clay are not made for each other, she has not done too badly on the dirt this year. She reached the Roland Garros quarter-finals and from there made the Eastbourne finals so is getting some good runs at the moment.
She has also made the final here, and should be expected to make a solid run.
[2] Anastasija Sevatsova
With some decent results on the dirt this year in Stuttgart (quarter-final) and reaching the semi-finals in Madrid, Sevastova returns to Bastad after a comparatively meek debut in 2016. There she floundered in the second round, but her form this year has taken her into the Top 20 this year, so she ought to expect to do better this time around.
[3] Caroline Garcia
Lurking just outside the Top 20, Garcia seems to have embraced the nerves that used to cripple her at her home slam of Roland Garros, reaching the quarter-finals, and she returns to the clay for a quick spin on the dirt.
It has been a while since she has played here – after bouncing out in the opening round back in 2013. Her form since then suggests that she will do better this time around.
The Ericsson Open takes place between 24-30 July (+1 hour BST).
