This could be more challenging that Raducanu expects – Wang has had to come from a set behind in her last two matches to get to this match-up and will be on form having played three matches already in Linz, as well as reaching the quarter-final in Courmayeur.

Playing Styles & Prediction

Wang worked her way back into the match against Kateryna Kozlova despite losing the first set comfortably, and perhaps aided and abetted with a few wayward line calls that infuriated the Ukrainian. Wang held her nerve to book her spot against Raducanu, who confirmed that she is close to finalising a coach for the 2022 season.

It has been a whirlwind for Raducanu since her breakout win at the US Open, and she might have lost her first match back, but got her first two wins on the WTA Tour in Romania. She will need to be prepared to have some good court coverage and good defence as the ball will be coming back constantly.

This could be a tough one for her – and could well go the distance.

Prediction: Raducanu in three sets.
