The 21st seeded Tunisian Ons Jabeur is set for a deep run in Wimbledon after winning a monumental title at Birmingham as her unique style of play continues to establish herself as one of the form players on the tour. Jabeur will hope that this continues as she continues to be a pioneer for tennis in African tennis.

Standing in Jabeur’s way is five-time singles champion at Wimbledon, Venus Williams who continues to evolve with age. The American’s big serve will take her far on this surface and reaching the final in 2017 has still given her confidence that she may have one more Wimbledon run in her.

Venus still has her vulnerabilities and those will sure to be punished by Jabeur who is confident and believes in her game right now. The Tunisian’s problem-solving abilities should see her into the next round.

Prediction: Jabeur in three sets.

The world number one had to work hard to overcome talented Brit Jack Draper but the Serb once again proved why he is the overwhelming favourite to win his 20th grand slam a week on Sunday. Playing his way into form Djokovic will hope another stern test on Wednesday will stand him in good shape for the later rounds.

As for Kevin Anderson, he has struggled for fitness and form but can still be a threat on this surface with his big serve, strong groundstrokes and quick movement. However Anderson’s record against Djokovic isn’t one to brag about and will have to play a near-perfect match to come out victorious.

Djokovic’s imperious returning and ability to create difficult angles should prove too much for the South African as he continues on his path to another Wimbledon title.

Prediction: Djokovic in straight sets.

Traditionally Wimbledon isn’t Karolina Pliskova’s favourite grand slam however a win over Tamara Zidansek would have done her game some confidence. It’s unexpected what Pliskova can turn up but with her serve, she can definitely prove that on her day she can beat the best in the world.

After having knee surgery earlier in the season, Donna Vekic seems to be picking up some momentum and this is the Croatian’s favourite surface having won Nottingham a few years ago as well as reaching the fourth round here before. Vekic’s big serve and powerful ground-strokes translate well on the surface as she looks to make a big run.

The question mark for Vekic will be her overall fitness levels but the Croatian should be too consistent for an inconsistent Pliskova especially with conditions set to be slower as the match will take place in the evening.

Prediction: Vekic in three sets.
