Playing styles and prediction

Egor Gerasimov has had a rotten last few months having only won three matches since the start of the clay court season in April. Gerasimov has a fairly big serve with good power from both sides but can be forced into a lot of errors.

Tactically Clarke will look to target Gerasimov’s second serve and will look to capitalise on a lack of confidence that the Belarusian may possess right now. The world number 230 will not get a better chance to implement his potential despite only winning one grass court match in the lead up to Wimbledon. A second Wimbledon win could be on the cards for the British wildcard.

Prediction: Clarke in four sets

Playing styles and prediction

Marco Cecchinato traditionally loves the clay more and likes to have more time on the ball than he will do on a grass court. The Italian has only won back-to-back matches at a tournament on five occasions this season and Wimbledon will be his first grass court tournament of the season.

Broady has been playing some confident tennis on the challenger tour this season and will look to use his power game to target the Italian’s forehand. A quick start could disrupt Cecchinato and give Broady even more confidence. There has never been a better time for the world number 144 to get his first grass court win since 2015.

Prediction: Broady in four sets.
