Johanna Konta v Ana Bogdan | Konta leads H2H 1-0
After Heather Watson’s hard-fought battle in to the second round, it is time for British No. 1 Johanna Konta to see if she can follow her into the next round. Although her grass court lead up only saw her rack up three wins, she has hit a decent upswing of results, reaching two clay court finals, and the semi-finals of Roland Garros.
She will face Ana Bogdan, who has come through qualifying and so will be feeling pretty confident on the courts of SW19, but on Court 1, with a home crowd supporting Konta, it might feel a little more overwhelming.
Bogdan does like to inject pace on the ball where she can, but the grass suits Konta down to the ground with her aggressive game. That being said, Konta had a three-set battle with Bogdan on her way to the Rabat final.
Prediction: Konta in straight sets.
Katie Swan [WC] v Laura Siegemund | First meeting
Katie Swan might come into this match with just one win on grass from the Ilkley ITF level tournament, but she has had four matches in total more than Laura Siegemund whose last matches were on clay at the start of last month.
Last year Swan made it to the second round, and there is every chance she could do the same. Siegemund is a feisty player who will be up in her face all the time. While grass is not really her thing, she has a lot more experience at this level and has enough variety to give opponents a headache in trying to get over the line.
Prediction: Swan in three sets.

Harriet Dart [WC] v Christina McHale | First meeting
Talking of feisty players, Harriet Dart looks to get past the first round, but much like Swan she has one win from four outings this year on the grass. She will face a far more confident Christina McHale who has been back on the qualifying rounds having also dropped down to the ITF level tournaments but has a little more grass under her feet at the moment.
McHale is quick and has a lot of court smarts but has no real weapons to speak of. Her backhand has a tendency to break down and tends to wait for the ball to come to her.
While Dart can certainly power the balls back to McHale she has a lot of depth and precision in her armoury and could actually advance.
Prediction: Dart in three sets.
