Week 3 of the British tour took a slightly different format. Firstly held over only the two days instead of the four. Arthur Fery was up against the top seed Jack Draper in the first round. Draper as the top seed was favourite to win, however Fery was not intimated. The week one winner secured the break needed in the first set and Draper could not break back. In the second set, the top seed tried to get back into the match, but Fery had other ideas and broke Draper to seal the match 6-4, 6-3.
In the quarter-final Fery was against Isaac Stoute. Stoute was unable to get anywhere near Fery who was on a roll and quickly dispatched the opponent losing only two games in the whole match. Stoute was not able to put up much of a fight and it was Fery that moved into the semi-final 6-1, 6-1.
The semi-final pitched Fery up against Finn Bass. The first set was fairly close as Bass fought hard to take the game to Fery. Bass was unable to break Fery who was in fantastic form. Taking the match to Bass the week one champion broke early and took the lead. In the second set the fight had gone out of Bass as Fery stepped up through the gears and lost only one game, moving into the final 6-3, 6-1.
In the final Fery was against Jonathan Gray. The week one winner dominated the first set, breaking Gray at will. In the second set Gray fought back and repaid the favour by dominating and levelling up the match. In the final set tiebreak Fery edged ahead and took the title 6-2,2-6,10-6.
Grace Piper wins Ladies title
In the first round Grace Piper was against Oriana Parkins-Godwin. The top seed wasted little time breaking Parkins-Godwin to take the lead. The second set saw Piper totally dominate the opponent, the top seed didn’t lose any games to move into the quarter-final 6-3, 6-0.
The quarter-final saw Piper against Hannah Smith. The top seed continued her good form from the previous round and totally dominated Smith. Piper didn’t need very long to dispatch Smith and moved into the semi-final 6-2,6-0.
In the semi-final the top seed was against Olivia Rook. Piper once against dominated the first set, with Rook unable to prevent the top seed from breaking. The second set was much the same as Piper again broke Rook, although Rook tried to fight back, the top seed took the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
The final saw Piper against Emma Wilson. The top seed took the lead in the first set by breaking Wilson. The unseeded player fought back, breaking Piper and levelling up the match. The final set tiebreak was very close and very tight. Piper managed to sneak ahead and go on to take the title 6-3, 4-6, 10-8.
