BUDAPEST, HUNGARY  – Ken & Neal Skupski took the doubles title in the ATP 250 event. The Brits were seeded third and were taken the distance twice in their matches en route to the final.

Ken & Neal Skupski entered the ATP 250 event in Budapest and were seeded third. In the first round the Brits drew Máté Valkusz & Nenad Zimonjić. The Skupski brothers totally dominated the first set, as the Hungarian/Serbian were unable to get any games on the board. The second set was much closer as Valkusz & Zimonjić stayed toe to toe with the seeds forcing a tie break. However, the Brits took control and secured the win 6-0, 7-6(4).

The quarter-final saw the Brits face off against Marcelo Demoliner & Divij Sharan. The Brazilian/Indian paring played a tight game and forced a tiebreak, the Skupski brothers edged the breaker to take the lead. In the second set Demoliner & Sharan broke the Brits to level up the match and force a match tiebreak. A very tight breaker followed, however the seeds edged into the semi-final 7-6(6), 5-7, 10-7.

In the semi-final the Skupski brothers were against Andre Begemann & Ernests Gulbis. The German/Latvian were dominated in the first set as the Brits broke twice to take the first set. In the second set Begemann & Gulbis fought back and forced a tiebreak, which they dominated to level the match. The match tiebreak saw the seeds move into the lead and hold on to book a spot in the final 6-2, 6-7(2), 10-6.

The final saw the third seeds against Marcus Daniell & Wesley Koolhof. The Kiwi/Dutch pairing were no match for the seeds and were outplayed in both sets. The Skupski brothers broke freely to take the match and lift the trophy, claiming their third ATP main tour title together, their second at the 250 level. They took the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.

Dom Inglot with Rohan Bopanna were defeated by Begemann & Gulbis in the quarter-final in Budapest 6-3, 6-4.

Luke Bambridge & Jonny O’Mara were defeated by Kevin Krawietz & Andreas Mes in the quarter-final in Barcelona 3-6, 6-4, 10-8.

Joe Salisbury with Raven Klaasen were defeated by Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares in the semi-final in Barcelona 4-6, 6-3,11-9.

Jamie Murray with Bruno Soares were defeated by Juan Sebastián Cabal & Robert Farah in the final in Barcelona 6-4, 7-6(4).

Scott Clayton with Adil Shamasdin were defeated by Dustin Brown & Sem Verbeek in the first round in Leon 6-3, 6-4.

Darryl Hale with Suraj Prabodh were defeated by William Bushamuka & Luke Gamble in the first round in Nigeria 6-4, 6-2.

Mukhtar Andu with Musa Mohammed were defeated in the by Sadio Doumbia & Fabien Reboul in the quarter-final in Nigeria 6-3, 6-4.

Lloyd Glasspool & Toby Martin were defeated by Tuna Altuna & David Pichler in the first round in Italy  5-7, 6-2, 10-5.

Naiktha Bains & Gabriella Taylor were defeated by Tessah Andrianjafitrimo & Margot Yerolymos in the first round in Italy 1-6, 6-3, 10-7.

Mark Whitehouse with Pawel Cias were defeated by Matteo Martineau & Clement Tabur in the first round in France 6-1, 7-6(4).

Julian Cash with George Goldhoff defeated Julian Bradley & Austin Rapp in the final in Cancun               6-3, 6-7(8), 10-6.

Isaac Stoute with Quentin Robert were defeated by Julian Cash & George Goldhoff in the first round in Cancun 4-6, 7-5, 10-5.

Amelia Stuart with Amber Washington were defeated by Alicia Smith & Madison Westby in the quarter-final in Cancun 6-4, 6-3.

Jonathan Gray with Clement Larriere were defeated by Orlando Luz & Rafael Matos in the quarter-final in Tunisia 6-4, 7-5.

Scott Duncan with Timofei Skatov were defeated by Markos Kalovelonis & Grigoriy Lomakin in the first round in Uzbekistan 6-2, 6-4.

Alicia Barnett & Samantha Murray were defeated by Amina Anshba & Anastasia Dețiuc in the first round in Uzbekistan 6-4, 7-6(7).

Next week Brits play in Estoril, Munich, Puerta Vallarta, Seoul, Savannah, Italy, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Ghana, Spain, Turkey, Tunisia, Rabat, Japan, Russia, Egypt.
