Alicia Barnett and Yuriko Miyazaki teamed up for the ITF event in Sharm-El-Sheikh and were the top seeds. The Brit/Japanese drew Anna Borovinskaya & Laure Line Glaude in the first round. The top seeds totally dominated the first set, breaking at will. The American/Belgian were unable to hold serve at all and were soon down a set. In the second set the Brit/Japanese again dominated, however Borovinskaya & Glaude were able to secure some holds. The top seeds progressed through to the quarter-final 6-0, 6-2.
The quarter-final saw the top seeds against Lee Ya-Hsuan & Aline Thommen. Barnett & Miyazaki managed to break the serve of the Taiwanese/Swiss pair to take the lead in the match. In the second set the Brit/Japanese found Ya-Hsuan & Thommen much tougher, and a tiebreak ensued. Fortunately the breaker was clinched by the top seeds who moved into the semi-final 6-3, 7-6(4).
In the semi-final the Brit/Japanese were against the fourth seeds Funa Kozaki & Thaisa Grana Pedretti. Barnett & Miyazaki dominated the first set, losing only one game. In the second set Kozaki & Pedretti fought well, but were unable to prevent the top seeds from securing the break needed to move into the final 6-1, 6-4.
The final pitched the top seeds against Yeon Woo Ku & Raphelle Lacasse. The South Korean/Canadian stayed with Barnett & Miyazaki in the first set, before the top seeds secured the break of serve and the lead. This seemed to break the spirit of Ku & Lacasse as the Brit/Japanese totally dominated the second set to lift the trophy in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
