Liam Broady entered the ATP Challenger in Belgrade. In the first round the Brit drew Serbian Nikola Milojević. The Brit started well and broke the Serbian to take a lead. Milojević tried to draw back level in the set, but Broady stood firm and held serve. In the second set, the Serbian played better, however it was the Brit who secured the break of serve and moved into the next round 6-3, 6-4.

The second round saw Broady against Austrian Sebastian Ofner. In the first set the Austrian got the jump on the Brit and broke serve. Broady was unable to break back and the set was gone. The Brit re-grouped and was fired up in the second set. Broady dominated the Austrian losing only one game to level up the match. In the deciding set, both players were up for the win. Ofner went toe to toe with the Brit, however it was Broady that managed to get the break of serve right at the end of the set. The Brit moved into the quarter final 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

In the quarter-final Broady was against American Brandon Nakashima. The young American stayed with the Brit in the first set, eventually though, the Brit secured the break and moved into the lead. In the second set Nakashima & Broady stayed toe to toe, and a tiebreak ensued. The Young American dominated the breaker as Broady struggled to get points. Broady re-grouped and in the final set secured the break of serve needed to take the match and move into the next round 6-4, 6-7(2), 6-4.

The semi-final saw Broady against Spaniard Roberto Carballés Baena. The top seed got off to a slow start, as the Brit secured a break of serve. The top seed couldn’t break back so Broady had the lead. The Spaniard regrouped in the second set, and dominated Broady to level up the match. In the final set Broady fought hard, however, the top seed secured the break of serve to clinch the match and the spot in the final 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Challenger & ITF Round Up

Jack Gibbens was defeated by Sanjar Fayziev in the first round in Shymkent 6-2, 6-1.

Mark Whitehouse was defeated by Dostanbek Tashbulatov in the first round in Shymkent 6-4, 6-4.

Sean Hodkin was defeated by Michail Pervolarakis in the first round in Monastir 6-4, 6-4.

Francesca Jones was defeated by Clara Burel in the quarter-final in Oeiras 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.

Amanda Carreras was defeated by Nuria Brancaccio in the semi-final in Antalya 6-2, 6-3.
