CHERBOURG-EN-COTENIN, FRANCE – Harriet Dart entered the ITF event and was the sixth seed. The Brit made it all the way to the final.

Brit of the Week

Harriet Dart entered the ITF event in Cherbourg, the Brit was the sixth seed. In the first round Dart was against Ana Konjuh. The Croatian got off to the better start and broke the serve of the Brit to take the lead. However, Dart regrouped in the second and fought back. Taking the vital service break in both the remaining sets to move into the second round 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

The second round saw the Brit up against Alice Rame. The Frenchwoman started better and broke Dart easily to take the lead. In the second set Dart fought back and broke to level up the match. In the final set the Brit stepped things up and kept up the pace to break Rame again and move into the quarter-final 2-6, 6-3, 6-3.

In the quarter-final Dart was against American Robin Montgomery. The American 16 year old was no match for the Brit. Dart broke more or less at will in the first set and took the lead. The second set was closer but Dart once again secured the vital break of serve to move into the next round 6-2, 6-4.

The semi-final saw the Brit up against German Jule Niemeier. Dart stayed solid as the German tried to get on top of the match. However, the Brit took control and secured the break of serve required in the first set. The second set followed a very similar pattern, as Dart took control and moved into the next round 6-4, 6-4.

In the final Dart was up against the top seed Kaia Kanepi. The Estonian broke the Brit in the first set and Dart was unable to get back on serve. In the second set Dart tried everything she could to fight back and force a decider, however Kanepi managed to stay on top and take the title 6-4, 6-4.

Challenger & ITF Round Up

Jodie Burrage was defeated by Kaia Kanepi in the semi-final in Cherbourg-En-Cotentin 6-1, 7-6(2).

Jay Clarke was defeated by Alexandra Muller in the first round in Lisbon 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

Liam Broady was defeated by Tomas Machac in the second round in Alicante 6-3, 6-2.

Freya Christie was defeated by Zhibek Kulambayeva in the first round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 6-3, 6-1.

Emilie Lindh was defeated by Sandra Samir in the second round in Sharm-El-Sheikh 1-0 (RET).

Emily Appleton was defeated by Alexandra Yepifanova in the second round in Funchal 6-1, 7-6(4).

Oscar Weightman was defeated by Marco Bortolotti in the first round in Monastir 6-3, 6-4.

Jack Gibbens was defeated by Aziz Ouakaa in the first round in Monastir 6-1, 6-4.

George Loffhagen was defeated by Antoine Escoffier in the first round in France 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
