Salisbury targets first major final

Joe Salisbury and Rajeev Ram had to come from a set down to book their spot in their first Slam final as a pairing. Playing the Kazakhstan duo Alexander Bublik and Mikhail Kukushkin, they were broken in the first game at the start of the match and while the rest of the set was competitive, they could not find any way into their opponents’ service games.

However they were quick to break at the start of the second set for a 3-0 lead and had to save a break point before finally converting their third set point to level the match.

The decider was a nervier affair, with a trade of breaks but the British/American duo fought hard to break in the penultimate game before serving out to love for a spot in the final 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

They will face Aussie wildcards Max Purcell and Luke Saville who also came from a set down against the No. 4 seeds Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek.

The Men’s Doubles final is provisionally scheduled on Sunday at 4pm (5am GMT).
