ZHUHAI, CHINA – Cameron Norrie will look to put a very disappointing US Open behind him as he starts his run in to the end of the season.

Cameron Norrie v Peter Gojowczyk | H2H: Norrie leads 2-0

As with many players over the past couple of weeks, Cameron Norrie will be coming back to the tour for the first time since a surprising first round exit in a five-set heartbreaker. Norrie might have been expected to come through that encounter, and left everything out there on the court.

With the benefit of a long rest, and a winning record over Germany’s Peter Gojowczyk, it is an intriguing match-up between the two. The German has hit the courts a little earlier than Norrie, but not altogether successfully with two opening exits in the Mallorca challenger, and in Metz this week.

While maybe you would have to give the advantage in serve to Gojowczyk who has a fast, accurate serve, both their take-backs are long and thy are both pretty consistent off their wings, which the German’s backhand being his favoured shot.

It has been a frustrating time for Norrie – after his sharp rise up the ranks to become the British No. 2 including starting the year with the final in Auckland and reaching the semi-finals in Acapulco and Atlanta, that same dogged determination seemed to leave him in the run up to, and in the US Open where you would want to see him completely in his element on the US hard courts.

Here’s hoping a long rest and knowledge that his game can undo the German sets Norrie back on a winning path.

Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
