It has been quite the tournament for Dan Evans, who started with two qualifying wins, knocked out the defending champion and No. 3 seed Frances Tiafoe, and then added the scalp of the No. 6 seed Andreas Seppi.

It was a quick start for Evans who was up 4-0 over the experienced Italian before he final got himself on the board leaving himself a bit of work to do to catch up. Seppi got one of the breaks back but it was too much of a task to overhaul the Brit.

Seppi had a chance for an early break at the start of the second set, but his failure to take the lead cost him, as Evans grabbed a break in the next game and held on to that advantage in a more competitive second set for another good solid win.

Evans [Q] v John Isner [2/WC] | First Meeting

It is another first meeting for the Brit, as he takes on the No.2 seed John Isner, who came in on a wild-card. The year started pretty unspectacularly for Isner with first round exits in Auckland and Australia, but since he has returned to America, all seems well in the Isner-verse with a run to the New York semi-final and now the same here in Delray Beach.

He has coasted through in straight sets, and by now Evans will be feeling it a bit in his legs. He has two more matches under his belt here and will hope to be as sharp as possible on the end of Isner’s serves.

We saw that he could go toe-to-toe with Roger Federer in Australia, and this match could come down to just a few points. It will not just be a matter of getting on the end of serves, but the serve-forehand combination that Isner makes so effective will be Evans’ task. The Brit will be undoubtedly more nimble around the court and while Isner will thunder in to the net, he can be hurt my players who can move him around the court.

Prediction: Isner in three sets.

Evans and Isner are scheduled on Stadium Court, not before 3pm (8pm GMT)
