Kyle Edmund regained some of his best form in New York. Last week, he claimed his second ATP career title, climbing back to No.45 in the world rankings.

He will open his first campaign in Delray Beach since reaching the quarter-finals in 2017 facing Frenchman Ugo Humbert, who achieved last month his career-high No. 43 in the ATP Rankings. The elegant left-hander defeated countryman Benoit Paire in a third-set tie-break to win his first ATP title in his maiden final at Auckland, becoming the first Frenchman to be crowned champion in 65-year tournament history.

During that week, he equalled the biggest win of his career over No. 13 Denis Shapovalov and finished his campaign as the youngest Frenchman to win an ATP Tour title since Richard Gasquet, 21, at 2007 Mumbai.

Humbert, who loves music and enjoys playing piano and guitar, relies on angled shots, an elegant backhand and his soft hands at the net. Edmund can express more power from the baseline, as he testified beating the Frenchman quite comfortably last year in Marrakech on clay, where his top-spin forehands gave him a crucial edge. On hard-court, the match could turn into a tighter battle: will Edmund have enough energy left in the tank?

The match is scheduled third and last on Court 1 not before 2pm (7pm GMT).

Prediction: Edmund in three sets

Cameron Norrie [Q] v Taylor Fritz [3] | Fritz leads H2H 2-1

Cameron Norrie came back from a set down in the final qualifying round to beat Mitchell Krueger and gain a berth in the main draw of the tournament. He will start against No.3 seed Taylor Fritz, one of the most effective servers on Tour so far.

They faced three times last year. Norrie won the first clash in Auckland, losing later at Australian Open and in the Atlanta semi-final.

Both players have had inconsistent results this season. Fritz won just one of his three singles matches at the ATP Cup, then he suffered a first-round exit in Adelaide losing to Alexander Bublik. After a third-round defeat at the Australian Open, he played an ATP Challenger event in Newport Beach, where Krueger dumped him out in the round 16.

The Brit lost three of his last four main draw matches following the ATP Cup. He gained some momentum winning his two qualifying rounds here, and he will try to maintain him against the American. Fritz, however, is expected to have the upper edge.

The match is scheduled first on Stadium Court at 11am (4pm GMT).

Prediction: Norrie in three sets
