Third seed Andrey Rublev sealed his sixth straight win of the season. The Russian is 10-0 in his last ten matches played as he defeated Brit Daniel Evans 6-4 3-6 6-3 in the quarter-finals in Adelaide.

The British No.1 won two-thirds of his first serve points but was definitely less effective on return and with his second deliveries. The Russian captured his third ATP Tour title last week in Doha defeating the Frenchman Corentin Moutet, an amateur pianist with an inspired, creative game.

Evans lacked enough consistency to push the higher-ranked opponent far from the baseline and counter his aggressive groundstrokes. Rublev, who broke into the Top 20 for the first time, will meet the NextGen Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime to reach the second final in two weeks.

The Brit will be seeded for the first time in a Grand Slam event at the Australian Open. Evans, the No.30 seed, will meet American world No.132 Mackenzie McDonald for the first time. The World No.33 has a 12-5 record in five appearances in the first Slam of the season. He could come up against Novak Djokovic in the third round.

The Australian Open takes place from January 20 to February 3.
