Cameron Norrie v Yoshihito Nishioka | H2H: Nishioka leads 2-0

British No. 2 Cameron Norrie will look to snap a two-match losing streak against Yoshihito Nishioka when they face each other in the first round of Acapulco.

Norrie has been plying his trade on the Latin American clay court swing, but the surer ground of hard courts should be a little more successful for him. Even though he picked up just one main draw win, he does have a little more court time in his legs than Nishioka who has a couple of Davis Cup rounds and a first round loss in Delray Beach as he recent outings.

However, when it comes to facing the Japanese player, Norrie has yet to find the right answer. He lost to him twice in 2018, on clay and on hard court. Nishioka relies a lot on being a decent returner and running everything down, so Norrie can expect to be pulled all over the court.

He lost to Nishioka in Shenzhen when the Japanese player made a run to maiden ATP Tour title from qualifying, so he is not to be underestimated, even though his reliance on retrieval has take its toll at times in terms of injuries.

Norrie has a little bit of everything in his repertoire and is solid off both wings. He would definitely tip the balance in terms of being able to hit through Nishioka more, if he can keep up with him.

The key for Norrie is to dictate play and not allow himself to be out run and with a little more match freshness over the past few weeks, hopefully he can make the adjustment quickly from the clay to hard court.

Prediction: Norrie in three sets.
