Samantha Murray & Maia Lumsden were unseeded at the Wirral event and in the first round their opponents were another all British pairing. Hannah McColgan & Nell Miller were no match for Murray & Lumsden in the first set, winning only one game.

In the second set McColgan & Miller fought harder and won more games as they tried to make a match of it. However, Murray & Lumsden were just too strong in the end and came out comfortable winners of this all Brits match taking it 6-1, 6-3.

The quarter-final was very much a stroll in the park for Murray & Lumsden. Up against another all Brit pairing of Jodie Burrage & Freya Christie, the pair were unstoppable as they broke at will. Burrage & Christie were unable to do anything in the match and we soon off the court having lost 6-0, 6-0.

In the semi-final Murray & Lumsden faced their toughest match of the event. Up against Emma Hurst and Eden Silva they continued the good form, sealing the first set without too much trouble. It was the second set that caused the difficulties.

Hurst & Silva fought back in the second set, causing all sorts of problems for Murray & Lumsden. Having had a comfortable foothold on the match, there was now a fight for a spot in the final. Hurst & Silva made light work of the set and a match tiebreak would settle the winner. Murray & Lumsden edged the tiebreak to book a final spot 6-2, 2-6, 10-8.

In the final their opponents were Alicia Barnett & Laura Sainsbury. Murray & Lumsden once again took control and secured the break needed in the first set. The second was no trouble for the Brits either as they took the match in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
