Danka Kovinic def. Johanna Konta 6-2, 3-6, 6-2
British No. 3, Johanna Konta endured a tough fight in the WTA International, Budapest but lost out in a three-setter to Montenegro’s Danka Kovinic.
The first set went to Kovinic with a break mid way through the first set, despite Konta sending down two aces, as two successive double-faults followed.
Kovinic then broke again to take the first set, but Konta started much more brightly in the second set, breaking straight away, and had to counter losing her own serve with a break straight back to maintain her advantage.
The third set started badly for Konta, and although the pair traded three breaks in a row, it was Kovinic who stayed ahead.
Konta did come through a tight hold but it was not enough and bowed out in the first round.
