With younger brother Andy Murray having already secured a title over in Dubai, it was the turn of Jamie Murray to play for the title in Acapulco Mexico.

Murray & Bruno Soares were the top seeds at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel Open. Their first round opponents proved to be the trickiest. Marin Cilic & Nikola Mektic fought well in the first set, but were unable to prevent the Brit/Brazilian from claiming it.

In the second set the Croatians stepped up their game, managing to break the serve of the top seeds more than once. Cilic & Mektic soon had the set and the match was evenly tied. A match tiebreak would be needed to decide who would advance to the quarter finals.

With a first to 10 points (with two points clear) shoot out, this could have gone either way. Fortunately for the Brit/Brazilian they managed to edge this vital breaker and take the match  6-3, 2-6, 10-8.

The quarter final opponents were the all American pairing of Scott Lipsky & Sam Querrey. Murray & Soares proved to be far too strong for the Americans. Barely troubled in the match the top seeds were almost breaking at will, losing only four games to move into the semi final 6-1, 6-3.

In the semi final the top seeds found themselves against Philipp Petzschner & Aisam-ul-haq Qureshi. The German/Pakistan team played well in the first set. Murray & Soares battled to get a break of serve. The second set was tighter and went to a tiebreak. The Brit/Brazilian dominated the breaker taking the match in straight sets 6-4, 7-6(1).

The final saw the top seeds against John Isner & Feliciano Lopez. The American/Spaniard were no match for Murray & Soares. The Brit/Brazilian broke once in each set, it was all they needed to do, taking the title in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
