Australian Open Day Six Results & Quick Hits

  • Johanna Konta swept aside two-time US Open finalist and former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki for the loss of just four games to set up a repeat fourth round match against Ekaterina Makarova. She looks set for a quarter-final clash with World No. 2 Serena Williams, who was equally decisive against compatriot Nicole Gibbs.
  • Karoline Pliskova, who had been dominant in her opening two rounds, just dropping four games in total, was taken to three sets for the first time and edged Jelena Ostapenko 10-8 in a taut decider.
  • Denis Istomin backed up his five-set defeat of six-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic in another battle, getting the better of Pablo Carreno Busta.
  • Rafael Nadal faced his sternest test yet, having to come from a set down to better Alexander Zverev in five sets
  • Aussie hopes remained alive thanks to Daria Gavrilova who came though a tough fight with Timea Bacsinszky.
