The 2013 IAAF Diamond League Season kicked off in Doha this evening, with some good results for British athletes.
Best of the placings went to Christine Ohuruogu who finished third with a season’s best time of 50.53s, in the women’s 400m.
Porter, in a tight 100m hurdles (another season’s best of the night of 12.94), finished behind an American clean sweep.
In the men’s high jump, Grabarz closed out at a height of 2.24m, failing three times at 2.27m. Further down the field, Samson Oni finished 11th at 2.19m.
In the 800m, which saw Olympic Champion and world record holder David Rudisha post a world-leading time of 1:43:87, Michael Rimmer finished sixth (1:44:97) and Andrew Osagie finished eighth (1:45.41).
There was also an 800m B race where European Indoor bronze medallist Mukhtar Mohammed came fifth (1:47:70).
Another season’s best was notched up by Shara Proctor in the women’s long jump, finishing in sixth place with a jump of 6.82m.
Unfortunately, Jack Green did not finish in the 400m hurdles after stumbling.
The action moves to Shanghai, China on May 18th.
