Robson made a strong start through, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set against Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens, before she finally got herself on the board levelling the score at 4-4.
Robson failed to convert three set points as Flipkens held on for a first set tie-breaker with roles reversed as the Belgian jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Robson fought back before Flipkens won the next five points to take the opening set.
Robson struggled to get a toe-hold in the second set, and once more the Belgium won the last four games on the bounce for a straight sets win on a difficult day, given the horrifying events in Belgium on Tuesday.
