Optimistic Fed Cup Brits at the top of the pack

Britain’s Ladies are in a conquering mood, according to Team Captain, Judy Murray!

The team will face Portugal, Hungary and Bosnia Herzogovina in a round-robin competition, starting on the 6th February in Eilat, Israel.

The British team is headed up by Heather Watson and Laura Robson who both broke into the WTA top 50 rankings after their performances in the Australian Open, in January.

Stalwart Anne Keothavong and debutante Johanna Konta make up the rest of the team.

Elena Baltacha also joins the squad, and is recovering from injury.

The British team is ranked 18 in the world group (Portugal – 32, Hungary – 34, Bosnia Herzogovina – 44) and the team narrowly missed a place in the World Group last year.

Judy Murray, who became the Team Captain in 2011, must feel confident that this team has the ability to top the group, and give themselves the best chance of reaching the World Group play-offs.
