ATP Barcelona Tournament Results & Quick Hits

  • What a week for ATP Next Gen’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, who reached the semi-finals by downing Dominic Thiem in comfortable straight sets, Thiem also reached the quarter-final stage last week in Monte Carlo.
  • Things did get a little feisty between Grigor Dimitrov and Pablo Carreno Busta, as the Spaniard sent the No. 2 seed packing. A disputed line call and Dimitrov’s belief that Carreno Busta had maybe exhibited a little gamesmanship saw the Bulgarian muttering “I’ll remember this!”
  • Rafael Nadal saved three set points in his straight sets win over Martin Klizan as he continued his unbeaten run on the dirt this season. He has won 16 straight matches since losing to Thiem in the quarter-finals of the Rome Masters last year.
  • David Goffin made the final four in the line-up – he will face Nadal.
