ATP Miami Results and Quick Hits

  • Crank up the hype machine and let’s go! We are set for an Australian Open rematch and the 37th meeting between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal – and here’s how they got there.
  • First into the final was Nadal – he reached his fifth Miami Open final with what looked like a routine win over Fabio Fognini. Certainly in the first set it looked like the Italian had un out of the inspiration that swept him through the draw, as Nadal lost just four points on his serve in the first set. It became more of a fist of things in the second set but a costly double fault at 5-5 gave Nadal a break and he rounded out the match with no problems.
  • The real thrills and spills came in the second encounter between Federer and Nick Kyrgios. For the second time they went to tie-breaks in each set and this time it was the Swiss who edged it this time around in a tightly contested affair. A raucous crowd were treated to outstanding tennis from both players, but maybe this time experience won out as Kyrgios maybe over-gambled in the key moments.
