Fleming/Marray edged out in Miami

By Ros Satar

Lukasz Kubot/Janko Tipsarevic def. Colin Fleming/Jonathan Marray 3-6, 7-6(9), 13-11

Jonny Marray’s return to the tour after injury was short lived in a fast-paced match against the combination of Kubot and Tipsarevic, at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami.

The initiative first went to Brits with the a break against Kubot’s serve, only to be broken back in the next game.

The Brits broke back again, and stayed ahead to take the first set in a little over half an hour.

The second set was more tightly contested with no breaks of serve, culminating in a tie-break.

It was a terse affair with two match points going begging for the British duo, and the opponents took the set on their third set point.

The Match Tie-Break lottery was just as tight, with mini-breaks being traded back and forth.

Both teams had two match points, but it was Kubot/Tipsarevic who capitalised to take the match 13-11 in the decider.

It was a good competitive return for Jonathan Marray, having been out with injury, and hopefully the pair can build on this in the run up to the French Open.
