Kyle Edmund [7] vs Joao Domingues [Q] H2H: First meeting

Kyle Edmund’s fabulous effort against Rafael Nadal in Monte Carlo was a performance he will remember for a long time. It is yet another indication of Edmund’s potential and value to the sport as he continues his rise up the rankings. Edmund’s frightening serve and forehand combination has bought him a lot of meaningful wins inside the last twelve months and in his first match in Estoril, he plays an opponent that possesses similar strengths.

Portugal’s own, Joao Domingues enjoys getting the most out of his serve and then delivering a powerful forehand in most of the points, so it will be a real battle of who can get their forehand into play first and who can start the point on the front foot. Edmund will be looking to stamp his authority on this match as the much higher-ranked player at No.42 in the world.

Prediction: Edmund in two sets.

Aljaz Bedene vs Marton Fucsovics [WC] H2H: First meeting

Aljaz Bedene should be feeling extremely confident about his tennis. He has just travelled from Budapest, where he made the second ATP final of his career. His opponent in the first round of the Istanbul main draw is Hungary’s Marton Fucsovics.

Fucsovics spends most of his time on the Challenger tour, but has a rare opportunity of doing some damage on the ATP circuit, having being granted a wild card for the ATP event in Istanbul. The Hungarian experienced great success as a junior world No.1, but has not quite lived up to the great expectation as a senior. Can Fucsovics deliver a rare ATP main draw victory?

Prediction: Bedene in two sets
